All I Have Is Yours

imageAs I consider more about Eternity, I must immediately acknowledge that the State of Eternity is the State of God.  It might be easy to think that God appeared on the invisible intangible line of Eternity, but that would place even the concept of eternal “time” outside of God’s Domain.  Has anything come before Him?  Is anything outside of His Domain? God was not created.  God always was, is, and always will be– from everlasting to everlasting.  Eternity is God’s Condition– God is Eternal.  Thus, when God grants Eternal Life, He is granting His Own State of Being, that we might share in all of Him- the One Who created all things (Isa 44:24b, John 1:1-3, 17:20-23, 1 Cor 13:12, Col 1:15-17).
Thirsting for the first mentions of God as eternal in the Bible, I went to the Orthodox Jewish Bible, which is an English language version that applies Hebrew cultural expressions to the Messianic Bible.  I have highlighted in bold some of the places I found where the term, “eternity,” or “eternal” appears in the Hebrew.  Take your time, and savor the beautiful Verses below:
For unto us a yeled (child) is born, unto us ben (son) is given; and the misrah (dominion) shall be upon his shoulder; and Shmo (his name) shall be called Peleh (Wonderful), Yoetz (Counsellor), El Gibbor (Mighty G-d), Avi Ad (Possessor of Eternity)*, Sar Shalom (Prince of Peace).  – Yeshaya (Isaiah) 9:6

But Yisroel (Israel) shall be saved in Hashem (YHWH) with a Teshuat Olamim (an everlasting salvation); ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded ad olemei ad (for all eternity). – Yeshaya (Isaiah) 45:17

But thou, Beit-lechem (Bethlehem) Ephratah, though thou be little among the Alphei Yehudah (Thousands of Judah), yet out of thee shall He [(Messiah)] come forth unto Me [Hashem] that is to be Moshel Yisroel (ruler in Israel); whose goings forth (i.e. origins) have been mikedem, (from everlasting; see Chabakuk 1:12), mimei olam (from the days of eternity).  – Michoh (Micah) 5:2

I was set up [to reign] me’olam (from eternity), from the beginning, or ever eretz (the earth) was. – Mishle (Proverbs) 8:23
——- and from the Authorized King James Version of the Bible for the New Testament (original translation from Greek-Tyndale Press):
And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness (use the wealth of this life); that, when ye fail (earthly possessions gone), they may receive you into everlasting habitations (an eternal home). – Luke 16:9

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they [men] are without excuse. – Romans 1:20

who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. – 2 Thes 1:9

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. – 1 Pet 5:10

in hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began (days of eternity).  –  Titus 1:2

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
We see clearly from first writings of the Old Testament that God is Eternal- forever was, is and forever will be.  We see all the more clearly from early writings of the New Testament that God desires to give this Eternal Life to US- His creations! —

Consider the passionate prayer of Jesus to His Father on our behalf-
All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. – John 17:10a
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.  – John 17:20-23

And Paul’s words to Believers in Christ-
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.  – 1 Cor 13:12

At Present, we have a fleeting mortal life, however God gives us the KEY to Eternity– which we can have at ANY TIME!!  Please read the following excerpt* from John J. Parsons, an author and Messianic Jew who gives a most beautiful description of how God brings Eternal Life to mankind.— (Please forgive my formatting!)
The ideas about Olam Hazeh and Olam Habah are cosmic and metaphysical – they pertain to the universe outside of ourselves in terms of the LORD’s overarching goal and plan for His creation. From the point of view of the human soul, these are experienced as Chayei Sha’a(fleeting life) and Chayei Olam (eternal life), respectively.
  1. Chayei Sha’ah — Fleeting life; life in this world (Olam Hazeh). This mode of life is absorbed in this world and its physical and social structures: working, eating, pursuing pleasures, etc. Chayei Sha’ah is the life of “vanity of vanities” and is a vapor that soon dissipates in the winds of time. It is sometimes called Olam HaSheker (עוֹלָם הַשֶּׁקֶר), “the false world.”
  2. Chayei Olam — Eternal life; life in the world to come (Olam Habah).
Yeshua and Eternal Life
The Brit Chadashah identifies Chayei Olam as the knowledge of the one true God who sent Yeshua into the world as the Mashiach:

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3)

umah chayei olam asher yed’u otkha ki attah l’vadkha
el emet v’et Yeshua Hamashiach asher shalachta.

Chayei Olam, eternal life, is a conscious relationship with God through Yeshua the Messiah. Since God inhabits eternity, this means living in the mode of life that apprehends (by faith) the reality of the eternal in the here and now. In other words, faith sees the Olam Habah and prepares us to partake of its reality even in the Olam Hazeh. But practically speaking, how do we experience Chayei Olam? How do we come to “know the only true God” and the one He sent, namely, Yeshua the Messiah?Ultimately this relationship is created by the Yeshua Himself, for the glory of God. Consider the context of the foregoing verse of scripture:These words spoke Yeshua, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify thee: As you have given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as you have given him.And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah, whom you have sent. (John 17:1-3, KJV)
Chayei Olam is a gift of revelation — from the Messiah directly to you — that ultimately derives from the will of the Father to be chosen as one who will know the truth of God’s love and redemption. This is summarized by the famous verse found in John 3:16:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

ki-khen ohev elohim et-ha’olam ad-asher
natan ba’ado et-b’no et yechido v’khol hama’amin
bo lo-yovad ki vo yimtsa chayei olam.

In other words, eternal life is the Person of Yeshua the Mashiach — He is the Source of all life and is the One who alone bestows redemptive life to chosen individuals. He is the Initiator of the relationship that heals us, for if He should choose to keep Himself hidden, how would He be disclosed? [END of Reproduction/See copyright* information at bottom]

Are you asking, “What do I take from all this???”

ETERNAL LIFE IS THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST!  HE IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE!  HE IS THE ONLY WAY TO THE KINGDOM!  HE ALONE HAS THE AUTHORITY TO GRANT ETERNAL LIFE!  THERE IS  NO OTHER ENTRY POINT! COME TO HIM NOW!  —

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Present Eternity

imageI am fearful to write this article.  Fearful because God gave me many thoughts at once this morning, and they all have to do with time and eternity.  The subject is too big for me, for both what I am able to comprehend and write.  My very last post touched on this subject… why am I hearing more now?  I don’t know, but I do know the thought crossed my mind this morning that I need to turn my plans over to God each day, and not keep asking Him to sign off on mine.

What do I do with this, Lord?  This is a first… that I have heard clearly from You, yet not known what to do.  I feel you’ve given me the pieces, but I have no idea how to put this together.  I recall immediately, John 3:30: “He must become greater; I must become less.”  I am less, Lord.  Write.

The Present is all that we have.  It is immediately connected to Eternity.  The Present is the Only Time of Value.  But Wait!, you say- history holds great value and so will the future, for posterity’s sake!  Listen closely- the Past only has value because it once was the Present- which granted it the right to become the Past.  The Future only has value if it becomes the Present- if it does not, it is only a thought, not a reality (keep that in mind as you make Present decisions!).
Picture a timeline of 3 doors.  The Present is the Door through which we see Eternity.  The Door of the Past is closed and locked on millions upon millions of Present moments gone by.  The Door of the Future might not ever be opened.
Do you see how invaluable the Present is?… How ETERNAL the Present is?  There is no Time in Eternity as we know it here in our finite earthly lives.  Earthly time consists of past+Present+future earthly moments.  Human history had a start point (Adam and Eve) and it will have an end point (End Times).  Eternity, however, consists of Entirely Present Moments!  No beginning (past), no end (future).  That is why our Earthly Present so closely resembles Eternity.  As C.S. Lewis said, “…the Present is all lit up with eternal rays.”
Here is my hand-sketch of how I see our Present in relationship with Eternity (3 doors above).  Sorry, it’s crude.:

And here is why we humans even think at all about life beyond this finite earthly experience:
“He [God]… has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds, yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”  -Ecc 3:11b AMP
Wow!  I consider Eternity because God planted that desire in me as His special creation!  God reminds me that I existed in His Infinite Mind long before I physically came to be, in the Words of the psalmist~

“My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.”    -Psa 139:15-16
…and in Paul speaking to followers of Christ Jesus at Ephesus~
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.  In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”  -Eph 1:4-6
Now, as I ponder the state of no beginning and no end, knowing I am created as an Eternal being, I am hit with the realization that I am living Eternity AT PRESENT!!!   Does this make sense to you?  Is your mind blown like mine?!!
Believe me, folks, I am becoming aware of things as I type- I spoke of my fear and apprehension upfront and not knowing where God was taking me… or those brave enough to come along! 🙂
I believe this is a perfect place to segue to my previous article, “Today Salvation is Yours!”  So- Go there!  Read!!  Know that you are walking in Eternity at Present, and NOW is the Time to call on the Name of The Lord and be saved from an unspeakably horrible Eternity without Him!  Christ saved you from Eternal torment for a Reason- to dwell with Him Forever in Eternal Joy!  It is YOUR choice, but don’t wait to make it… Tomorrow is an uncertainty, Eternity is NOW!

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord [Jesus] will be saved”   -Acts 2:21, Rom 10:13

“Salvation is found in no one else [Jesus], for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”   -Acts 4:12

“I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”   -2 Cor 6:2b
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”   -John 3:16
God bless you!!!
